Back About Friday After 5 Friday After 5 is a summer-long series of free outdoor concerts held every Friday on the Owensboro, Ky riverfront. Friday After 5 began in 1996 with four concerts and grew into a 16-week signature festival for the entire tri-state area hosting more than 50,000 visitors each season on the beautiful riverfront every Friday After 5. It’s Where the Weekend Begins! Fun. Friends. Free. All events are free thanks to our sponsors. They’ve already bought your ticket for you. We thank our sponsors and volunteers. Pre-Unions: Most high school reunions are on Saturday. That’s why we host them on Friday and call it their “Pre-Union“. We know they don’t have any money, so we provide everything for free including a “pre-registration” table and chairs, a great band and beautiful venue. We’ll even help promote your “Pre-Union” on our site. It’s free. Friday After 5 was again named one of the “Top Ten Summer Festivals” in Kentucky and just won the Reader’s Choice Gold Award again this year. The festival includes live bands, family events, food and entertainment and our “Toast to the Sunset” at each Friday After 5. Hours: 5pm until 10pm Location: RiverPark Center in downtown Owensboro. Friday After 5 includes four venues of entertainment. 1) A Live band playing on the main stage (BB&T Plaza overlooking the Ohio River), 2) Live entertainers in the RiverPark Center “Courtyard”, 3) Street Fair that includes vendors, unique children’s events and 4) Gospel on the River, a series of free concerts each season featuring three different gospel groups in RiverPark Center’s Cannon Hall which seats up to 1,500 people. Fun For Everyone: Each Friday’s Street Fair has a different theme. We host a kids’ Hula-Hoop Contest each week and invite the five contestants center stage to see who can “Twist Like We Did Last Summer” the longest while hula hooping! We enlist five couples from the audience to enter the Water Balloon Toss Contest. The winning couple gets a $25 Kroger Gift Card and a towel. We all meet at dusk to “Toast the Sunset” as it dips into the Ohio. Then the nightlife begins. Friday After 5 serves as a great additional attraction for visitors staying in Owensboro that weekend. The street fair has a different theme each week. Friday After 5 is a non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
